Who is the author?
My name is Justin Evans and I am the sole poster/designer/etc of Red Pinstripes Are Cooler. I’ve been told stories of how I was wearing a Phillies hat out of the womb and throwing a baseball by age two. I was born in 1984 when the doomsday era for Philadelphia era began. Years and years of heartbreak for all over our beloved teams lead to the greatest feeling of relief in 2008. Yes, I rank the World Series win higher than graduating college because there really isn’t a need for young adults with Finance degrees anymore.
I started this website in 2009 after being part of a few different site that focused broadly on all of the Sports teams. I felt my writing would improve dramatically if I zoned in on one area. I love the Phillies more than any team that plays off of Pattison Avenue. They’ve been the soundtrack to my summers for 25 years.
What’s in a name?
I was born in Philadelphia, but I moved to the New Jersey shore at a young age. For years, all I’d ever hear about were those damn Yankees and their blue pinstripes. After the 2008 World Series, I mulled over a number of different names. I wanted to have some wit to go with the name, so I finally settled on “Red Pinstripes are Cooler.” I don’t think the title needs much explanation besides the blatant fact that the Phillies are just that much cooler than the damn Yankees.
